Robbe L-Spatz
The Scheibe “Spatz” (Sparrow) sailplane series, beginning in the early 50’s, was the favorite of the German glider schools and clubs. Early versions had a wingspan of 13.2 meters, but the design culminated in the L-Spatz-55 which had a 15 meter span and a much higher aspect ratio, for greatly improved performance and a glide ratio of 1:29! Overall, its good looks and excellent flight characteristics made it a best-seller, with over 450 of the type produced.

The Robbe L-Spatz-55 is a semi-scale 1:4 model, giving it a respectable 3.75 meter wingspan. While employing conventional “built-up” construction, modern laser technology ensures each part fits perfectly!
The L-Spatz-55 is completely prefabricated and covered with highly realistic antique-colored Oratex® iron-on fabric, for a tough, long lasting, low-maintenance finish, complete with color-trim, markings and registration numbers. A special technical treat is the very effective spoiler system, with spoilers on both upper and lower surfaces, just like the original. A tow-release mechanism is build into the nose, and the cockpit is complete with instruments and pilot seat. The RC components are easily accessible. The canopy is magnetically secured, and a latched access hatch is provided in the upper fuselage. Rudder-actuating cables are provided, all other control surfaces are pushrod actuated.
The real beauty of the L-Spatz-55 is in its majestic flight characteristics. Wow the sailplane crowd with very realistic and elegant aerobatics; slow-motion fly-by’s will arouse nostalgia in all old-timer enthusiasts!
